The Russian advertising market grew by 6% in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period in 2020, according to the Association of Communication Agencies of Russia (AKAR). The total volume of advertising budgets excluding VAT for the reporting period amounted to 123 billion rubles.
The most dynamic segment remains the Internet… Online accounts for almost half of the entire Russian advertising market. The growth of advertising on the Internet in the first quarter amounted to 14% – up to 64-65 billion rubles. The video sub-segment has the highest dynamics.
Advertising budgets for TV increased by 5% to 44.5-45 billion rubles. Advertising segment on radio showed a drop of 9%, advertising budgets decreased by 30% in press.
Segment OOH fell in the first quarter of 2021 compared to 2020 by 13%, budgets for outdoor advertising decreased by 8%.
As a reminder, in the first half of 2020, advertising costs in Russia decreased by 1% compared to the same period in 2019 and amounted to 108-109 billion rubles net of VAT.
