- HUL turnover at Rs 11,947 crore in fourth quarter
- The company will give a dividend of Rs 17 per share to the shareholders
Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), the flagship company of the FMCG sector, has declared the fourth quarter results for the financial year 2020-21. According to the exchange filing, HUL has earned a profit of Rs 2143 crore during January-March 2021. The company’s net profit increased by 41% over the same period a year ago. The company’s net profit for the January-March 2020 quarter was Rs 1591 crore.
Turnover of the company increased by 34%
According to information given to the stock exchange, the company’s volume growth in the last quarter of FY 2020-21 has been 16%. At the same time, the company’s margin has been 25%. The company is witnessing a jump of 34% in turnover. The total turnover of the company from the sale of products in January-March 2021 has been Rs 11,947 crore. The turnover of the company was Rs 8,885 crore in the same period a year ago.
Health, Hygiene and Nutrition’s 80% stake in growth
HUL says that the health, hygiene and nutrition businesses have an 80% stake in the company’s growth. This is the third consecutive quarter when the business has been witnessing double digit growth. Sales of non-essential items and outdoor use are slowly improving. HUL Chairman and Managing Director Sanjeev Mehta says quarterly performance on both the top and bottom lines has been very strong.
Final dividend of Rs 17 per share to shareholders
According to the exchange filing, the company’s board of directors has recommended a final dividend of Rs 17 per share to the shareholders. Earlier, the company had announced an interim dividend of Rs 14 per share. Thus, the shareholders of the company will get a total dividend of Rs 31 per share in FY 2021. Apart from this, shareholders will be given a special dividend of Rs 9.50 per share. The dividend will be approved at the General Annual Meeting to be held on August 17.
7,954 crore profit for the whole year
The company has a net profit of Rs 7,954 crore in the financial year 2020-21. In the previous fiscal, the company had a net profit of Rs 6,738 crore. The company has seen a 18% jump in net profit in FY 2021. The company’s turnover from sales of products in the last financial year has been Rs 45,311 crore. The turnover of the company was Rs 38,273 crore in the year-ago period.
Shares rise marginally
After the quarterly results were released, shares of HUL have seen a slight uptick. At 02.24 pm, the company’s shares were trading at Rs 2419 per unit with a gain of 0.50%. The company has a market cap of Rs 5.68 lakh crore.
