Tim Walton | Florida Head Coach

“It was an incredible opportunity to be an assistant coach for the United States Women’s National Team this summer and helping this team win a World Championship at the 2022 World Games was an amazing experience. I’d like to say thank you to all of the fans who showed up in Birmingham to show their support not only for Team USA, but for the sport of softball and to everyone involved in making this entire tournament the best experience for both the athletes and fans.”

Michelle Moultrie | Florida (2009-12)

On competing for a World Championship on American soil for the first time…

“It was a great experience competing at the World Games. This was the first time in my career that the World Championship was in the United States, and any time an athlete gets to play in an international tournament on home soil, it’s pretty special.

The past few years there’s been limited interaction with fans. So, I didn’t take for granted playing in Birmingham and in a full stadium with fans that were really engaged and cheering on Team USA. It was an amazing show of the growing support that people have for the game of softball.”

On being one of the veterans for Team USA this summer and how your role on the team has changed over the years…

“This has been a transition year for the USA Softball program, which is adapting to a lot of new things such as: all new coaching staff, a lot of new players and a new system for naming rosters. I felt like my role was to be available and adaptable through all of the changes. Being able to honor the past by helping pass along some of the traditions and expectations, while also embracing the new.”

Amanda Lorenz | Florida (2016-19)

On being able to wear the Red, White and Blue and playing for a World Championship…

“It was such an honor to wear the three letters across my chest and represent my country.  I have dreamed of competing for a gold medal for Team USA for as along as I can remember. It was truly a dream come true to win a World Championship and be surrounded by such amazing humans.”

Charla Echols | Florida (2020-Present)

On playing for Team USA at the 2022 World Games…

“Playing for Team USA this summer was definitely a dream come true. It was pretty cool getting to play with some of the players I use to watch growing up. It was a special experience for me and my family and I am so grateful that I got to be a part of it.”
